As has already been said you need to fisnd deep water. We had them to eighteen pounds last year but that was an exceptional fish, with a double figure fish a great capture and the average more around 4 - 6 pounds.
Live out on the beautiful Beara Peninsula. Always willing to assist visiting anglers.

You know this thread has really surprised me. Ling from the shore is something I have never even thought of but seeing these pictures is cool to think that these fish can be caught from the shore..

you can't fish there anymore unless you have a step ladder with you to get the gear over the 7 foot gate there now

Anyone catching anything at poolbeg ?Last few times Ive been there and havent caught anything on rising/ dropping tide , I dont tend to go all the way to the lighthouse as its always crowded .I fish both sides ,on the rocks after the half moon and opposite that on the liffey side. I go directly from work as its close so I dont have time to get live bait and have been trying sandeel jelly lures and spinners and feathers targeting mackeral , bass or anything really.... using 2/3/4 ounce leads ..Any help /advice/reports would be appreciated ...Thanks
