where am I going wrong?

#1 Post by s50touring »

Alright lads, ive started fishing again after a few years of a brake( all my gear got robbed from my house years ago so I kind of gave up on fishing for a while), ive been out fishing 3 times in the last 2 weeks and ive blanked every time, now I fished for connaught u16 in cobh so I know a bit about bait tactics rigs ect. Ive fished spiddal twice and a beach mark farther out, I used sandeel mack cocktail on vairous rigs to no avail the most I had was a sea trout that I lost on a spinner :( .

Is the west coast fishing well?
Am I doing something wrong?
Should I try different spots?

Thanks in advance

i guarantee your not doing anything wrong in terms of rigs and bait - its the venues - the closer you are to the city things get more miss than hit - all year round!

out in clifden youll be able to change venue really easily, deeper for shallower water, with the wind agianst it, sandy or mixed ground etc. - in general spring time is dirt out west

My advice I've been out fishing in and around cork habour a lot over the last few months covering west to east every inch almost, fishing is poor at present, ive tried day/night high water/low water, 2 hours after drop 2 hours before the rise, all ive been hitting is stragglers in terms of fish and it was the best thing that could have happened as I have changed my attention now to bait collecting, I'm still putting out a rod while collecting or digging returns have been poor lately in terms of fish, bait however is starting to build up so when the fishing improves, I will be well stocked up, you are proberly not doing anything wrong ive blanked many times in the last couple of months and each time i went back the drawing board and came up with one answer im doing nothing wrong , you cant catch whats not there.
