Dingle area

#1 Post by Richard B »

Is there anyone here from the Dingle area?

I come to Dingle every summer for a fantastic weeks fishing - the undoubted highlight of my angling year. However, last year I noticed that some of the smaller beaches I fish had suffered from a significant loss of sand. My question is therefore: does anyone know if the recent storms have had a further detrimental effect on some of the smaller beaches (e.g. Trabeg, Beenbane) in the Dingle area?

Thanks

Richard

Hi Richard, Beenbawn is ok, got bit of hammering during the storms (actually and all-merciful hammering) but the sand is starting to return to the beach, i haven't been to trabeg yet since the last storm but that time the road down to the beach had been closed because it got destroyed but during the last storm the beach was perfect. I didn't get to see Kinard either because its the same road as Trabeg. The rest of my haunts are back to normal, Ventry, Ballydavid etc. but they're not fishing very well thus far.

There's either Landers: https://www.facebook.com/landersoutdoorworld
Or Atlantic Tackle: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Atlantic ... 0812727862
to choose from :)

Yep Richard you can, the small car-park at top has been eroded a bit but you'll still get down alright.

All the beaches full of bass at the moment, Inch beach seems to have been affected by the storms... We have fished there a couple of times and its defo not the same, the other side of the peninsula seems to be fishing better, good bass, painted ray and turbos have been caught over the last few weeks, don't fish with lug all the time, fish some fish baits also. A friend of mine caught a 7lb bass today and i heard another report of an 8lb bass caught in tralee bay... Mark is top secret... Myself and John Sheehan were fishing two days ago for an hour and we had three bass.. So things are good at the moment...
I'd rather be fishing..

Back from formoyle today, fished it last night and the yesterday, the place has some good bass, had a lovely turbot of about two pound... Fished banana yesterday morning but the conditions were all wrong... The place is alive with fish and spring has come for sure, i have a feeling this summer gonna be one to remember...
