Reducer question

#1 Post by DAMIEN »

Well lads picked up new conoflex complete with reducer, shop where i got it reccomended getting the bottom 2inch of the rod whipped to prevent splitting, just wondering has anyone had issues like that before?often fished reel down and reducer on centurys for years no hassle?

Any info would be great

It can split when pulling out of snags and playing big fish. some rods have a extra wrap of carbon to stop the butt from splitting but it can still happen
