Killiney Codling Hunt

People: Me

Duration: 7 - 10.30pm

Tide: Rising (high at 12pm)

Weather: wet, cold and windy

Bait: Poolbeg Lug and Squid Wraps

Rigs: 3/0, 2/0 Pulleys had a scratching rod out but it was too much hassle

Results: 2 Dogfish, 1 Whiting, 1 Edible Crab




Report:Was surprised there wasn't more whiting around as had them to 30cm here a few months back..good night though all in all

Fair play getting a few fish, doubt there was many anglers fishing the last few days.

The whiting move off that beach after the Christmas best months are from the end of October to January it will fish pretty poor now until the summer unless theres a good onshore wind or coalies come in.

Myself and the brother-in-law went down last Thursday. Got a few decent Whiting, and he got 2 Codling all in all a good night. ImageImage

Just at the car park, he got those 2 codling on his last to casts, we had to leave just as it was picking up. I've been down there regularly the past month and it is fishing very well.
