hook size?
How important is the hook size you use? it seems to me that fishes mouths are really quite large and the diffrences in size between a size 2/0 and a 3/0 is quite small. my question really is what is a good all round size when fishing?

Re: hook size?
All depends on the species your wanting to catch. Hounds 1/0 or 2/0 ray 3\0 or 4/0 and for scratching Size 4 to 1. Try match your hook size to the bait size

Re: hook size?
I would have said 2's were a good all rounder (East coast beaches) if you're looking to catch most things, i've had plenty of smoothies, Bass and Ray using them and will catch smaller species.... personal choice i think and depends if you want to target particular fish or not. Match bait sizes to the hook you're using, small baits will still catch big fish..i've seen a stingray of about 60lb landed on size 4 and a third of a sandeel as bait

Re: hook size?
I've heard a story like this before - "One man came close; Went by the name of Homer. Seven feet tall he was, with arms like tree trunks. His eyes were like steel: cold, hard. Had a shock of hair, red, like the fires of Hell."

Re: hook size?
1 to 4 for small fish. 1/0 to 4/0 for larger types of fish it all up to you tbh it what you want to use.in my opinion there no need to be going any smaller than a 2 if your just pleasure unless you are getting no fish and really want to get a fish and i dont think any need to go bigger than a 4/0.what i use is sakuma hooks for the 2/0 3/0 4/0 size hook if you going for the larger types of fish and kamasan hooks for the smaller size for flats i usually us 1 or 2 i dont think there is any need for smaller.and 1/0 are the perfect all rounder.as long as your hooks are sharp your bait matches the size and there fish there you will get them.that cod in the attachment was got with a size 4
