Foynes, Carrig Island East, Ballybunion Men's Beach

#1 Post by folanf2 »

People: Me

Duration: 7am - 3pm

Tide: flood and ebb

Weather: estuary was full of flood water and windy

Bait: mack, squid, crab

Rigs: 1 rod with pulleys and 1 rod with scratching rig

Results: blank!!

b]Report[/b]:

Got out for most of Stephen's Day. Tough fishing all in all but first time fishing this side of the Shannon Estuary so plenty to learn about the marks. Fished Foynes Yaught Club early in the morning as had to wait for the petrol station to open, water was dark brown and lost plenty of rigs even though I was fishing right out towards the middle of the channel.

Moved on to Carrig Island East and didn't have a tap there so moved on to Ballybunion Men's Beach and still no fish. I probably should have fished the Cashen Estuary but I thought the flood water might have made it un-fishable.

Will be returning in March/April for the start of the ray...

I,d say your not the first person or the last to leave a few rigs in foynes at that mark  its a tackle graveyard  i think their is some kind of cable or pipe that run along it and to be honest even with a big fixed spool and a lead lift your lucky to get two out of three rigs back ,it does throw up some fish mind you  still at least you got some fresh air and got to hear you reel scream as the lead powered out 8)
