unusual-rare for our waters??

lately ive been seen posts of trigger fish from wicklow, mako in cork and squid in i think was donegal but just curious has to what is rare for our waters and has there been anything caught that made people go WTF is that doing here?

It was me that got the squid!!..never saw that before!

yeah i remember the post...it was only last week i think lol but me been quite an amature curiosity has kicked in, never knew trigger fish could be caught either or mako sharks :/ i got home from a year in Oz last october and over there squid where common to be scaught, spinning off of piers for them with mad looking lures..

Squid is neither rare nor unusual in Donegal - I look forward to September every year for a bash at them.

I've got a whisper of Triggers about though - still trying to catch one of those!

I got a trigger fish myself last monday fishing off the puffin in courtown. It was a first for them down there aswell

I nearly got a slap on the back of the head off Joe Byrne for not weighing it before I put it back. First time they've seen them down there but it wouldn't of bet the record which I think is 4.25 lb.

well, if you check the website, over the last several years, I think you will find that we have had reports of several types of new bream across the west coast and I know that boats off Clare are now regularly turning up several species of jack... search under rarefish. He logs all the reports.

I had a double shot followed by a single of triggers at keem bay in achill 2 yr ago. lovely looking fish give a nice little scrap too

Don't know whether these are rare or not but I caught an Octopus
last year off balscaddan rocks in Howth.(Mack strip)

cool trigger fish man!!! well done lad..
one of my buddies caught a tiny one off the deep sea pier in cobh in the depths of winter...must tryin find the pic..

Trigger fish and squid very popular down here in Kerry, fenit peir does be alive with people fishing for squid in September... Trigger fish caught in pots alot also...
I'd rather be fishing..

2013 : Bass, Flounder, rockling, rainbow, sea trout, sliver eel, flounder, plaice, brown trout, pike, conger, salmon, sea trout, mackerel, pollack, undulate"first".

2012 : Salmon, Sea Trout, Thornback, Ling, Pollack, Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Cod, Bass, Dog fish, Sole "From derrymore!", Pike, Roach, Dab, Turbot, Brown Trout.
