Barley cove west cork.....?

#1 Post by Kdeane87 »

Hi all,
Thinking about heading to barley cove this weekend for a bit of fishing and camping. I've been told that it's a good spot for bass. Anybody have any advice or experience fishing that area?

Thanks,
Keifer

Beautiful spot, I fished it for Bass (surface poppers) about this time last year but had no joy. On an incoming tide you can get good mackerel fishing and with warm water you can wet wade and often see them swimming around you. It's packed with swimmers on sunny days though.

Fished it back in may on the kayak. Lovely spot. I only had good size pollock but have heard of good bass there too along with conger cod and ray

I think Barley Cove is an Autumn mark. I've fished it in May and June with no success, but had some nice bass in September.

Seen some nice giltheads caught, but not had one myself.
