Malahide

#1 Post by craiglong »

Hi
I am fairly new to fishing and was wondering if anyone could let me know of any marks around Malahide and what you might expect to catch.

Thanks

Hey Craig Long you should have a wee look at the marks section...... Or alternatively do a search with Malahide......

My advice if you are new to the sport is to stick to piers and fish a rising tide. Get a box of rag worm and fish in close to the wall with smallish hooks, you will be amazed at the variety of fish that you will get.

Best of luck

I think he wants to break away from the Mackerel Bashin, Best is if your serious about shore angling get to know the lads here, lookin shore reports and see if anyone is heading out soon, generally alot of us know each other here, Hence we help out each other (most of us do ;) ) around malahide is a hard one with the tides etc, its fishable but you need to spend time, and you will lose gear if your casting isnt great. for baits think of the normal .. Lug Rag Peeler. keep hook sizes down under 1/0s and look for rising tides, But during low tides go out and look at the ground you'd like to fish, remember the gullies if they are in casting distance, but if your not familiar with marks its ALWAYS a Good idea to either go out with a buddy, or someone that knows the mark ;) Best of luck keep safe and tightlines

The estuary there behind the railway bridge has plenty of mullet though they're very hard to catch, and seen a fair few people trying the rocks down there between Malahide and Portmarnock...but as the previous poster here said try the shore marks section on the website will give you better info than I can.
