Reel Advice.

Hi lads,
My first post on this site ( be gentle ! ) Fancied trying a bit of uptide fishing. Have just bought 9ft 6 Greys rod. Now the question...... which reel ? All opinions greatly appreciated. Cheers.

First welcome on board.

Depends on what you species you are after but a Penn 535 loaded with 30lb braid will cover almost all species.
Specimen Fish 2024: Shore Rockling (3) 36cm, 34cm, 31cm; Thick Lipped Mullet (2) 58cm, 57cm; Smooth Hound (1) 109cm; Sting Ray (1)125cm; Ballan Wrasse (1) 48cm ; Corkwing Wrasse (1) 24.8cm. Golden Grey Mullet (2) 43cm, 1.8lb; 40.6cm, 1.55lb;
Total species boat/shore: 45

Cheers, I'll have a look at one of them. Is it preferable to have smaller , neater type multiplier when uptiding? As opposed to normal size boat multiplier?

avet sx there €140 or a penn fathom both very good reels

Thanks for the advice lads. I ended going for a Slosh' 20 in the end.....fingers crossed!

slosh 20 are a great reel and even better at €87.50 delivered from alderney angling

+1 for Avet sx.Sexy and light weight,solid aluminium bullet proof construction,lever drag.can stop a train when you need.
