rough ground rig

#1 Post by hunterman »

what would be the best rough ground rig i will be fishing into really thick kelp ground which holds good pollock and a odd decent cod ive been told a pulley rig but sumone said no as it has 2 many swivels beads bait clip etc and i should just tie up a simple trace of 60/80lb rig body with a blood loop with a single hook snood and use a loop at the rig top instead of a swivel and then do the same on my main line tie a loop and join the 2 loops together this cuts down on useing swivels beads ec etc only orther rig bit is the roten bottom clip or anyone any orther good rigs for rough ground

I'd go for a pulley with a rotten bottom if you're only lobbing it out a short distance. If you're casting it properly you'll need a weak-link like the ones descibed here

You could use 60lb mono straight through for the snood if worried about using too many swivels. Get your hands on on some scrap lead/old spark plugs as sinkers and it'll save on the leads too!
It ain't easy but it sure is simple!
