"The Steps" - Shannon Estuary

#1 Post by PJKaiser »

Have seen this mark referred to in a few posts online.
Was hoping someone could PM the location as I am not aware of it?
Many thanks

not a 'secret mark' PJ by all means but a bit of a hike down a steep descending hill and even worse back up, believe me. Easy to find, half way up the hill from Foynes there is a black iron gate on your right. You can park your car on one of the bays on the left there if you want to take the risk but I don't advise it. Further up, there is another gate leading you down through woodlands. Better parking but still not worth the risk. It will take you at least ten minutes to get back up. You could park your car at the yacht club in Foynes, bit safer because there are always people walking dogs etc. but make sure to be back before the gates are closed and you are locked out. All in all, unless you have a resident Rottweiler in your vehicle who knows how to contact you in case some thugs take their chances, and considering the long walks and the risk taken, you might be far better off fishing in comfort out from the boot of your car at Foynes Yacht Club. Same targets, same tides, same results too. Check out a recent report here: http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/bull ... =3&t=43203
Hope this helps.

Thanks lads.
Know the place alright. Didn't realize it was a dodgy parking area. The times we are in I guess..
