'Irish Bass' meets Minister Fergus O'Dowd

#1 Post by John D »

John Quinlan from Irish Bass met Minister O'Dowd to persuade him that our bass laws should not be changed.

Minister Fergus O Dowd attended the recent IFI Forum meeting. On behalf of Irish Bass, John Quinlan managed to get time to explain to him the importance of our bass legislation and how it was vital it was not changed in any way. He appeared sympathetic to our cause and stated that he was against any changes to the law. He was very interested in a report compiled by Irish Bass that shows how rare bass are in Irish offshore waters. This report casts a major shadow over the commercial sector's claim that they and others are catching bass in Irish offshore waters. He promised to pass this report to Minister Simon Coveney who is under severe pressure to change the law.
