Help needed with a vital bit of equipment

#1 Post by Tommy B »

Hi all hope you can help me?
I have a Daiwa Luvias 2500 and the plastic handle that you hold in your fingers is very stiff.
I have tried spraying with oil with no luck.
There are two round discs either side of the handle and arm with a pin hole in each.
What I was wondering does anyone know how to open these and hopefully free it?
Thanks in advance
Tommy

Tommy,

Don't know if you have the schematic for the reel but here is a link that might help

you could also try sourcing a spare handle from the usual suppliers.

Cheers Declan
Looks like the handle is all one part so might have to get a new one.
Thanks

its prob gone gooey inside grease and oil can turn into putty over time you could try soaking it in a solvent like white spirits take it out and turn it and resoak it till it gets free ,why not drill out the small holes to make em bigger and squirt the thinners in with a syringe it should free up with a bit of work :?:

Well I got it fixed and heres how I did it with the help of you guys.
The disc with the pinhole was easy to prise out with a pin.
I then put it in boiling water for a while. Then I sprayed in wd40 a couple of times and twisted
Then I used nail polish remover in the hole and after this it started to free up
I also picked at the inside with a pin and as Roger said there was gooey stuff coming back out
So know we all know how its done

Thanks again for the help lads

Tommy
