Rag and lug available all year?

#1 Post by mech1 »

Just wondering if there is a year long supply in the main tackle shops of lugworm and ragworm?
I would hate to have everything organised on a weather reoprt just to be laughed at in the shop when they say something like "are you joking, its only March! come back in May".

Thanks.

you will get lug all year but not rag ,normally after paddys weekend before you will be able to buy it ,bait diggers let the worms spawn in peace to keep stocks healthy ,small rag are available and maddies /harbour rag but the big ones are a greeney bluey colour and not good bait during spawning

Was out digging, the lug are fine, but some of the rag are still greenish bluish, best to stay away from them as Dodger said about the spawning, and while they are in that phase trying to use them is awful, they go on the hook as a fizzy mush. and theres not much scent of them in that stage, Lug and Mac seem to be the perfect combo at the moment.
