Hi all I am considering using braid on my beach multipliers, 1 X 7HT, 1 X Penn 525 Mag and 2 X 6500, has anyone used braid on their reels and if so how did you find it to use. I have the feeling that the braid would be a little bit clingy and stick to itself and as a result restrict the cast, but that is just an idea of mine and I have no reason to think that it is the real situation, hence the question?
Many thanks for any advice or suggestions about the subject, I know that it would be a very big mistake to use braid that was too thin, just asking for birds nests that way.
Regards Wez

Re: Anyone used braid with a beach multplier?
Stuck a load of cheap braid on one of my 525s and Im getting on grand. No birdies and it casts really smooth. I do find that at some stage of the cast the braid starts to slow down very quickly and the spools just halts. Not sure whats causing this but could be just bad line lay. Its 50lb so the diameter is big enough. Id say your right with the skinnier stuff.

Re: Anyone used braid with a beach multplier?
I've been using it for years and never had any problems.
I'm using 30lb Power Pro at the moment and getting all the distance I want with it.
I will admit I'd often use nylon for the short scratching bits

yes you will get slightly less distance than with mono 30 lb just nice ,if you have some braid on a fixed spool thats worn in ie. the coating has worn off, all the better.take it easy to start off with and keep your thumb off the spool after you cast until the very last moment i use it on 6500 abu with no prob, it wont work in a very big surf if you use a gripper as the rod wont bend enough to stop the lead getting pulled out so keep a multi with mono with you just in case

i have been using it the last few weeks. As roger has said it wont work in a big surf i find it hard to grip the lead even in a small surf.No problems with casting but when you get a good fish the bite detection is great.

Many thanks boys I have bought some well cheap stuff from China, just hope it is OK but the diameter is what you would expect. For anyone looking for some cheap line have a look here, some other good bits and pieces there too http://www.ebay.ie/sch/luckydolphin168/ ... 4340.l2562
I have not received the line or any other stuff I got from him, but it is on its way, I should think that it will be OK, I got some poopers and plugs also
.
Thanks again and best wishes Wez

Been using FireLine on my Abu for the last few years. No problems, smooth cast.
