multiplier gear ratio's

hi all ive being browseing online lately to try and find a multiplier that will suit me for what i need it for.im looking for a reel that has the ability to handle the rough aswell as the smooth.i already have a slosh 30(a beast) and a penn 525 mag xtra.im looking to try a new brand so i can open my knowlege on different types of reels etc.i dont want one with a level wind either.im thinking either abu or akios.so whats all this,,,4,3,1/5,3,1/6,3,1 ratios with the reels.im thing the bigger number ones are the better.im looking at this one. reelhttp://www.gerrysfishing.com/casting-multiplie ... 1-3294.php



oh im only looking around the 100 euro or pund steling mark

•5.3:1 Retrieve, would mean for every turn of the handle the spool would turn 5.1 times.
In two speed reels you could see 5.3:1 - 2.1:1 to indicate the two different retrieve speeds

The lower the number the slower the real will retrieve but the more pulling power it will have and the higher number will retrieve quicker but wont have as much pulling power

so the lower the number is means that it would suit rocky/kelpy ground better for pulling through the snags and dealing with larger fish

Fishing de wall in Monkstown, which can be classed as rough ground, the faster retrieve is the only way to go.
A slow retrieve would only let your lead drag along the bottom where a fast retrieve will lift your lead up and clear of any snags

Iv two reels I always fish with side by side a 6500 mag and 6500 highspeed and yes the highspeed will retrieve quicker but I feel that the normal one can handle a big fish better. I don't tend to pump a rod when retrieving a fish I tend to just reel so I don't loose contact with the fish so I can defo notice a difference, I like the normal more.
