loads of lads fishing away in the area man. but very little said about it. every time we have good sessions out that way with bass, turbot and sea trout i put up reports and get bombarded with private messages on the site and through facebook from the donegal boys frantic that i do'nt disclose the marks on open forums
a lot of marks out there fish very well, but it's all kept on the quiet. added to that you have to remember that for every site member who posts a report in the shore section there are at least another 100 members who only lurk through reports and rarely ever post. after good sessions i've had pm's from lads who have been on the site for years wanting info, but with only a few posts to their names
but i'm a firm believer in the notion that if you don't put into the pot of information, you should'nt be expecting to take out from it

Well said Al, and while were on it, Yes I completely understand some lads dont want to disclose their marks and will do their utmost to protect it (i know some, post and photoshop backgrounds out etc. etc.) but lets remember one thing (and I'll know I'll get shot over this one again!!) theres big Brown signs pointing to marks all over this country, in addition to this there various sites offering advice on marks throughout Ireland, offering angling tourism to remote areas, I am all on for keeping marks clean, respecting the environment, and only taking what is needed. Preservation of fish stocks is a must, and yes I have seen areas wiped out (during Mackerel seasons) with over-enthusasitic bashers. But trips around the country does even one good, its not like theres going to be a sudden invasion from Dublin on a daily basis!, Yes myself and the boys travelled to Youghal alot, met with the local anglers and made some really great friends, so there more then just the fishing to be had, theres also the crack! (and some really really cool pubs!!) .. I agree with keeping the Actual marks quiet, but a post from donegal now and again would give a fairer picture, also what is going on fish stocks wise, if its crap or good. If you want to be extra secure on your favorite mark when you take a photo use a towel on the ground as a backdrop ;) you dont have to say the exact mark (though the mods might correct me on that ;) )

very true kevin, that's the premis i work on. by all means keep the reports coming in, as that's what keeps the boards up to date with current info and alive. but just be vague with your description of a mark. a " donegal beach mark " or " donegal rock mark " still lets everyone know the area is fishing well. but it's a big county so locals don't have to worry about a mark getting hammered. :P
and the tea towle makes for a great backround for pics for those of us who can't use photoshop

Heh. If I put up all the details of all my trips and all the marks I fished and all the fish I caught then folks around here would start wondering why I'm bothering posting on an angling site! :D

I need to get out more. :(
