Smoothhound help for 2012?
Hi all, I've added smoothhound to my wishlist this year as I've never caught one or even considered travelling south to give them a go. I honestly have no idea where to try or what time of year might give me the best chance of latching into one? Any advice would be very much appreciated

Wicklow and wexford beaches in June-september would be your best bet. Simple pennel pulley rigs, 3/0 hooks and peeler crab should see you right. Ragworm is also very good. Try to fish a big incoming tide from dusk into darkness. That's about all I know but I'm sure the smoothaholics on this site can give a lot more advice!
It ain't easy but it sure is simple!

hi man. your more than welcome to head down with us next summer when they start to show in good numbers. i usually try and get a few lads togeather from the north and head down with the dublin and wicklow lads for a crack at them. the fishing is normally top notch and the craic is mighty too
. the lads always look after us well and do their best to put us onto the fish. top blokes
