Was going to try off Trawee beach but it was too rough and weedy so went to watch the surfers at Easky . There was a guy fishing off the end of the pier --- spinning , at low tide , in weedy water mid afternoon . Didn't see him catch anything except a lot of the weed . Didn't want to interrupt him to ask so I'll ask you guys instead ! What do you reckon he might have been after ( using that word in either the English or the Irish sense ) .
Perhaps he was just wetting the line and enjoying the air for a bit of craik . Or should I have joined him

Pollock and bass usually but the sea trout and salmon cross back and forth across the front as the tide fills and that would be the most common target in that area once the mackeral are gone . Could be a tourist just passing the time . I've fished it many a time but not my favourite spot ..
