No season for digging lug, they are just down a bit deeper in the winter months and not as plentyful depending on the location you are digging. I tried digging for lug in Duncannon once and had no luck after being told it was great, lot of misinformation out there. If anyone Knows of someplace in the wexford region with good lug they might point both of us in the right direction. :D

Try some where thats sheltered an a bit enclosed, and start at the waters edge on a low tide, lug seem to get smaller the further up the beach, lug are a bit scarcer in winter because a lot die off after spawning in autumn, their also deeper

Hi big bass, who ever told you about Duncannon for lug was telling the truth, you should dig on the far left of the beach and you will get as many as you want. The trick is you have to dig single worms at a time use a spade and dig fast. You can pump lug on this beach because of the soft sand, and it is effective.

The only thing i find with the lug from this beach is they dont keep well in a fridge for any amount of time and are better used on the same day you dig them  Hope this helps.
And Thats The Truth!!!!!!

there's plenty of lug on duncannon. you can't write off a spot after one bad session, you could have simply been at the wrong end of the beach or the worms were not producing casts on the day you were there making it harder to locate them and as snots said dig with a spade on this beach its far more productive than a fork.
