Winter Fishing

#1 Post by MackerelMaster »

Hi lads , i'm looking to get a bit of fishing done over this coming week , Dun Laoghaire and Killiney are close to me so pier or beach fishing are the options , just looking for tips on where exactly to go and which bait to use ? Want to have a fair chance of catching something , species doesnt matter ,

Cheers :)

Killiney beach should give loads of whiting with coalies and flats showing too. Best bait is lug tipped with squid or mackeral.

as bigSod said their should be a few whiting around with the odd coalie and codling showing up on killiney, try and get some of your fishing done during darkness, evening tides look good for this week

sections of sandeel whipped on with bait elastic will get you whiting and if you bind it on tight you will get 3 or four fish out of one section this will save you baiting up alot and keep your hands warmer  size 2 aberdeens just dandy

Would there be in sense in going at 3pm (half an hour after low tide) or would chances of catching something be limited as opposed to going at high tide ?

Cheers
