Beach casting

#1 Post by alancooper »

I have read that you should aim to put a beach cast just beyond the third breaker - but what counts as a breaker? On my local beaches in Donegal Bay, there are often up to 10 breakers, ranging from big ones well out beyond casting range, to piddling ripples at my feet. Where do you count from? - and what constitutes a breaker? Have I missed something? - or can anyone give me common sense?

Just lob it out ull be grand,id concentrate more on the quality of your bait, most surf beaches are gently sloping so distance dosent realy matter the dept dodent change much, but a deep beach eg most of wicklow wexford distance can be more critical ,say ur aiming for a bank or gully or casting abit of distance for smuts or ray, depends on the beach
