hey was thinking bout heading out over the weekend round the sutton area, is there anywere round the area fishing? was also tinking of dollymount strand area, would anyting be round there after these southeasterlies?

Dont waste your time coming up stay down south and fish for cod!!!!!! Northside beaches are not fishing well at all

Easy to tell Sparkey works for Bord Failte psml....... If your coming to Dublin for a reason and want a break out the rods then the Dublin South Beaches are doing okish alot of small pin whitting about, Dollymount does fish better in the winter BUT its a hard ol station and I've known lads put in serious hours and get little in return, but aint that fishin all in all ?? Sutton I've tried several times and have blanked several times but I still think its worth it BUT the way the tides move etc its not worth following the tides out on the strand as it will hook around behind you, theres a beach close Claremount But then caution is advised as again the tide will hook around, there is a gullie of Claremount but its out of casting range, but dropping a line in the direction you might be rewarded..most of North Dublin Beaches flood out in extremes, Laytown example, was fishing away all going fine, few small flatties, was busy baiting up,took a phone call, set out about casting (during the night) casted .. and heard the sound of my weight hitting sand at distance!! ....at present south seems to be the direction everyone is headed unfortunatley .

I know the area ya thinkin, Ive tried in the past without much sucess BUT doesnt mean it dont fish try try try again, I think thats the motto for most of teh East Coast at present, trying things at different times and weather conditions, unforenately i dont have teh exact answers of when each beach fishes well, as it almost seems to change from year to year, and with the various weather conditions, but one thing i know is the Dublin North beaches fish better in winter, and rougher weather

I presume you mean behind the golf club?

If so, I've fished it a couple of times and blanked - only ever fished it in daylight though.

The crabs are rampant in the area and will devour baits within minutes, even peeler crab.

The area looks like it should throw up small bass and flounder - perhaps a ragworm or mackerel strip on a running ledger, slowly retrieved may be an idea

Its a popular spot for lure fishing for seatrout in season, but from what I'm told the last few seasons have been extremely poor.

Claremount does have flounder on it, and the odd bass is reported to be caught there.

I fished at night and blanked there as well, but also tried Claremount without sucess several times But gonna give it a go in the next few weeks winter has an amazing effect on places!

I think Claremont is hit and miss, havent fished it much myself, with the sandbanks and the gullies its hard to know where/when to fish.

It was indeed Brian's catch, but tbh I thought he had it a different day from that horrid night we fished - also seen mullet or bass (not sure) cruising in around 1 ft of water only a rod length out in front of me that night.

Yeah, that's what made me and Jon drive from blackrock to meet ya's
There was a spring tide and we were there an hour and a half with no sign of the water coming near us either, that might have also made us move to be fair haha
