I work on the local golf course and im out working in every type of S##t weather you could think of and by far the best wet gear we got is the snickers ASA workwear jacket and matching trousers. they`re 100% waterproof, breathable and very light. I dunno how much they are but I reckon theyr cheaper than what tackle shops would charge for similar stuff. Gore-tex is brilliant too but its very expensive

well donal i just done the same thing your doin . i also had the wet gear that let in the rain in over long time of bad weather. i got all my new fully rain proof gear in galway a few weeks ago. i went to the great out doors and looked through the on sale rail and got a jacket with hood and a detachable fleese lining for 50 euro { same material as guy cotton.}. and the bib and brace i got in corrib tackle in galway. it is a guy cotton, and its the light bib and brace. so it is not as heavy to wear as the commercial ones and dose the same thing. that was 45 euro i think. there was other guy cotton trousers {30euyro} but the bib and brace is what i was looking for. i got the large size so if i needed to put on more layers for the winter night sessions i had the room. and when the session is over a wipe down and there clean. :D . hope this helps regards Dan.

nothing compares to the old pvc yellow [oilskins].they might not be breatheable but they certainally keep the worst of the rain out without too much internal sweating..once your not running a marathon in them you should be ok...
