Fishing Foynes

#1 Post by johnnohayes »

Its been about 3 years since I fished Foynes in anger , to my dismay that day we encountered a couple of fresh water silver eels. wasn't impressed as the time before that (we were fishing the old pier before it was closed off) we caught 3 ten pound+ huss and a nice sized thornback !!!! I left it go as once I caught fresh water eels I came to conclusion sea fishing in Foynes was done for. But reading some posts here I'm intrigued to see all is not lost anybody with info for me it woul  d be greeted with open arms and a pint maybe !!!

Cant comment directly on Foynes as I have no experience of fishing that area.

One bad session doesnt make a mark bad though

Thats fair enough so.

I'm only seafishing 3 1/2 - 4 years now myself, but I have found that certain spots around Dublin have been productive for certain species one year, then no so productive for the same species the next year.

Sure, its not an exact science this fishing malarky
