Go light, try a slither of mackerel on a size 8 hook float fished, use either a clear bubble or stick float keep any weight away from the hook to allow the bait flow naturally. But watch out for gulls

i live in the area and fished for all around the mayo coast and can safely say sorry mate they are mullet
an odd small bass get caught from time to time and people automaticly think all the fish they can see are bass too , the bass are the only ones taking a bit of bate and the mullet just piss about with it .

shoals of mullet often have a bass or two tagging along for a dander thats prob why you have only gotten two when their appears to be bucket loads of em ?
