Shimano biomaster or the penn range aint bad . The surfmaster got bad reviews but I've the gtx and its fantastic . I'm not gone on the shakespear reel for sea as I find them too light and have went through a few on light mack and pollock fishing.Theyre a good freshwater real for trout

forgot to add i actually used my shakespear quantum reel yesterday for close range beach work and it has now developed the dreaded whine on retrieve. I have used the same reel to land a thirty pound pike and has lasted three years since

its more down to the rod than the real. Its the tip action that dictates the action the lure majest. The real will only vary the retrieve and if it was me I'd go for the fixed spool and load it with braid and pair it to a 9 ft spinning rod with a 10 to 30 gram cast rating

Baitcaster, IMO will always be my preference if the wind is calm, it is tedious to cast against the wind thus spinning reels are used for most of my fishing sessions. FYI, I have Diawa Vento & Shimano Calcutta 200. The Vento is only meant for fresh water, mine have a bearing rust after a few weeks in salty condition, now on a window sill as a display
depends on how much you have to spend alot of fixed spool spinning reels can cost a fortune so i think your buget would dictate what reel you buy as opposed to what reel is the best https://www.veals.co.uk/acatalog/copy_of_Reels.html
