cover for a shockleader knot ??

#1 Post by validoc »

hi,
just wondering if many people bother with trying to cover the shockleader knot, i've done it a bit in the past using silicone tubing but it seems to be hit and miss it and either gets shredded after a few casts or simply slides off the knot and back up the mainline. Its really to try and reduce weed fouling, i do leave biggish tags after first tying the knot and then trim down after a few casts when im happy the knot has bedded itself.

Are there any better options than tubing :?:

waste of time , just make a neater knot and put the knot to one side of the spool before casting , i remember someone using braid for joining fly line to leader and super glueing but that was for use without a knot

sound advice there 8) has always been my favorite, small and reliable, easy to tie, hasn't let me down yet, even use it for leader to braid connections when plugging.

cover for a shockleader knot ??

#11 Post by stevo74 »

I wouldn't bother trying to cover it- Just use a lower diameter tapered shockleader for a neater knot. I use teklon gold line for my shockleader as it has a very low diameter to breaker strain ratio- works a treat!

just been given a tin of "Momar Plastc strip coating ???" (used for sealing electrical connections in cars, apparently pretty durable) heard it can be used for the job - i'll give it a go - wont cost anything

if not, its either tapered leader or the blob knot - im thinking tapered line is the way to go - havent used it before but if the knots smaller then cant be a bad thing
