PB Golden Grey Mullet..... lenght/weight conversation.

#1 Post by sully »

Hi folks, During the Waterville SAC competition on Reenroe beach in South Kerry I was lucky enough to hook and land a Golden Grey, a beauty of a one at that. It measured in at 42cm. Now I know they are not a huge fish and this was the biggest Golden Grey that anyone on the beach had seen or heard of. I could of Killed and kept the fish for an official weight but it didnt seem worth it for a badge.

I am confidant that it was easily over a lb weight but if Anyone knew of a lenght weight conversion table I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance, Chris.

I would reckon that it was well over specimen. I've had a specimen before, I'll check the length later and come back to you.

The current record is 2.63lb so at nearly 3lb ye might have missed out on a once in a lifetime chance to be a record holder

Cheers lads, through donals rough guide I put it at 1.8ish as it was a well fed fish but not bulging as soon as I get the pics forwarded I'l stick it up. I'm just happy to hear it over the specimen weight. I was seriously tempted to keep it and claim a specimen badge but it was such a nice fish I got a fit of the guilts and returned it.

John - it was Chris Nelms 285points 14fish (9counters 5undersize)
Myself 270points 10fish (7counters 3undersize)
Eugene Farrelly 170points 10fish(5counters 5undersize)

Thanks for the help lads it was great to get a new species.
