Taking kids pier fishing in east cork
hi all. I am going down to east cork next week and want to introduce two young fellas to fishing. Where's the best/safest place? Would like to catch a few, mind. Thanks

hi damian. ballycotton pier great for dogs and and very safe. east ferry pier safe ish but keep an eye on them as the pier is not closed off but you can fish from the car which is handy with kids and it can turn up a nice surprise every now and then
hope this helps

the only thing about ballycotton is it can get very busy. space can be at a premium and lines can get tangled pretty bad. midweek can be a little better than weekends. watch out for flying leads toorazor2 wrote:hi damian. ballycotton pier great for dogs and and very safe.
as for getting a few fish for the kids, theres probably nowhere better in the area thats as safe.
enjoy.

best time for ballycotton is the morning if you want abit of comfort, but ull not catch much there during the daylight only probaly mackeral & youd want a high tide for that, but as mentioned in another post you'll get plenty dogs there after dark.
not relly many places to buy bait around to be honest,so unless you happen to catch a few mackeral you would nearly be better off to bring sumthing with you.
there catching a few mackeral at the moment but there very hit & miss
regards
