Heading to cork for a few days to see the inlaws. So planning a bit of fishing. Could any one tell me how this place fishes or would I be wasting time. I've got rag, mackerel, squid and peeler with me thanks

Great spot to go fishing!
The estuary is full of peeler crabs and bass.
The best fishing I know is at dusk on the pier in the middle of town..
throw out a small shrimp rig to catch the baby pollack, float fish a live pollack off the end of the pier, bass galore!
Courtmacsherry also has some huge flounder and is one of the rare places where gilthead bream are Summer visitors.

Hi Anthony , re Courtmac I,ve been fishing there for over 30 years mainly sea angling with my long time friend Mark Gannon who runs the sea fishing there.. However as the other guy said the pier is fine but good fishing can also be had from the shore at Woodpoint which is just around the corner from the Hotel . Spinning with plugs etc on the filling tide do best though you could try bait.. Also if you want to torment yourself have a go at the ample mullet that are in the bay. There is good mackerel, some pollack and odd bass from the rocks at the headland which is up at the end of the woods..just follow the path .. I hope to be there next month with a bit of luck as currently in Yemen.. I,ll say no more ! Good luck
