how do i properly use peeler crab

#1 Post by steol5589 »

ive looked at all the tutorials but to no avail.tried using peeler today from the beach and found it very messy and frustrating.when i managed to get it on the hook securely i couldnt get it out very far. should it be on the hook as a whole, or do u cut it into smaller pieces.ive heard all the good things about peeler as bait, so i dont want to give up on it just yet. any advice on how best to use it would be greatly appreciated.

it depends on the size of the crab. If its big cut it in half. Use a pennel rig. On the main hook run it through the crab and catch the second hook on the line into the end of the crab. Tie it together tightly with elastic thread and it should hold better. Also put a bait clip on your line or use impact weights and this will keep everything in line when casting if ye want to whack it out. I always find a short cast works better for certain fish. So ye dont have to strip all the line off your reel and cast as far as ye can.
Hope this helps ye. Happy fishing
