Fishing for sandeels

#1 Post by steol5589 »

i was fishing one of my rock marks today when i noticed shoals of sand eels swimming below the rocks. before anyone asks, they were not fry. some of them were large sand eels, nearly a foot long. my question is how do i go about fishing for these to use as bait. i have 10 rubber eels with very small hooks, the eels are only about one and a half inches long.would these work.any suggestions appreciated.thanks.

Was fishing out of Killybegs last Saturday. We were catching sandeels regularly on the green feathers while fishing for mackerel. First time I have seen so many.

Use small Sabikkis. Bounce your lead weight off the sand to rise them out of it.
