Anyone Know someone that makes lead weights in the Munster region? I and a few others are interested in getting some made.

Why not club together to buy the moulds and lead yourselves? Casting your own weights is great craic.

I can see your point but I think its safer to let it to the professionals, they will have all the gear necessary already.

Cheers but it would be 4,5,6 &7 oz grip leads we would be after, Namix/DCA or the new UK Hooks moulds.

Professionals? ,the only gear u need lead ,a little pot,and a camping stove,the moulds ,and bike spokes work grand and dont rust, use a welding glove or thick cloth wrapped around ur hand when pouring,iv made my own leads for years and ull save a fortune ,all u have to do is find a willing roofer or electrician and ull have all the lead ye need

Too much hassle and a health hazzard. I would prefer to leave it to someone who makes some kind of a living out of it.

Anyone making leads should be doing so with the aid of a powerful extractor fan.

I done made my own wates meself and it done me no hurt :D


Itd be worth giving gildea shout, pretty sure him and richie used stockpile em by the 100's.

The grippers are costly especially when you hit a phase of losing them. As far as I know you can buy the moulds for them, We make the ordinary torpedo weights at home using a bucket of sand, push an already made weight down through the sand in two or three different places in the bucket, put your wire in next and then pour your lead. You need to move fast as its sets in about 2 seconds.

Industrial applications,and a lot of older equipment wud have lead contact insulators also many of the thick high voltage cables wud have lead,hop this answers ur query
