Anyone ever hear of this 'tip'
so i was down in my local harbour today seeing if any boats had gone out in the bad weather.well they hadnt but i got chatting to one of the men who works the harbour.to make a long story short, he told me that when he uses mackeral for bait, he prepares the fish a few hours before he goes fishing, guts and cuts it etc, and then puts the fillets into a water tight box, along with all the blood, guts and innards.he leaves them in there until hes fishing and then takes the fillets straight from the blood and guts and onto his hook. sounds messy to me but was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of this one.

fanastic way to do it especially when fishing for the animal species, throw your squid, sandeels etc all into the tub as well, more scent the better. I also give it a damn good run of shaking once in the tub, beats more juices in and out of thew bait, i find it works best anyhow!
Not the BigPhil from Irish Angler mag, I'm the original, i swear!!!!

Yeh met a guy who used to soak his mackeral fillets (and virtually every other bait) in bags with loads of cod liver oil in it before using them, better than drinking the stuff I suppose.
