Hi all
I'm just getting back into fishing for the first time since I was a kid and I was wondering if there are any good spots to target wrasse around Dun Laoghaire?
I've heard a few people mention "around the kelp" off the pier but I'm not sure exactly where they mean?.
I'll probably try a float with some ragworm... should I add some colour (beads or a spoon of some kind?) also am I wasting my time if the bait is too high off the rocks / weed (say 10 feet or so?)
Thanks a mill
Brian

you will get them from the Beach gardens and bugrock down to sandycove harbour float fishing with rag worm crab or limpets from the rocks your fishing from.
i would keep it simple with no beads or blades

Also good sport for them fishing inside the harbour itself, I've only fished inside the east pier, anywhere from the band stand onwards - just drop the float down below your feet about 1 metre out.
Mostly small wrasse but I've had the odd one to around 3lb, and some of the smaller species such as the goldsinney wrasse aswell - good for the species count for the year if your into that side of things.
Its great on a clear day as you can see them going for the rag.
