advice on the DROPPER LOOP

#1 Post by fishermandan007 »

hi guys just a quick question on the DROPPER LOOP knot, when u tie this knot, can loop the be cut directly, so u can tie a hook onto the line directley and would that be strong enough, the knot link is at http://www.abouttitusville.com/outdoors ... knots.html the knot is half way down the page!

thanks

It can yes, I always cut the upper section of the loop. Although recently I've been twisting the line that becomes the loop to create like a stand-off boom and attaching my snood to this.

cheers mate i never thought of that, the reason i ask is simpley because the fishing is so poor and having to fish rougher ground, losing many a trace i dont mind but making the traces with little swivels etc on them saves on the old pocket thanks!

yes and make the snood weaker then your main line , so if your hook gets caught or the fish goes to ground the snood will break
