inch pier

#1 Post by dchristy »

I was down at inch on Thursday with my friend fishing and we meet to guys from Belfast so the four of us was fishing from about half 3 until half seven and we didn't catch a thing. There doesn't seem to be any fish down in inch at the minute. I was using shinny feathers along with my friend and one of the guys from Belfast was using feathers also. The other guy was using something but i forget. The bait i was using was mackerel and scarp and the two guys from Belfast was using mackerel, razer calms, squid and some bait that was like a black worm of some sort, but the four of us never caught a thing.

know the pier reasonably well but never really considered it as a potentially good fishing spot - at low tide it is all exposed sand/mud and i can only imagine flatties and small fish moving in with the tide as it floods. but of course theres always a chance of something, im not too sure. heard it was a decent spot for sea trout.
do you fish it regularly? with success? - species and sizes?
there must be ray about that area

I only heard that you could catch sea trout there this week, never seen anybody do it. I would try and get down there once a week maybe twice cause i work all week long. I only ever seen mackerel or dog fish being pulled out of the water. the mackerel are about 40 cm long or not much more than that and the dog fish wudnt be much bigger.

inch pier is not the best - fished it plenty of times with no success - its an exposed bank at low water. rays like the channel at fahan.

however sea trout are round the back of the island on the west side

Like Dave says it,s really not a great spot as have fished it loads of times and always blanked . However a friend has fished for tope just a few 100 yards offshore from a boat in June/July and had some decent fish. I intend to give it a try for the tope in a few weeks with a good float and mackerel flapper in the rght tide ! There should be some ray about but as said have always blanked at the pier ..
