a lot of appreciation

#1 Post by quagmiresdad »

hello lads, myself my son and a pal came over on friday night from stranraer for a nights fishing on lough swilly.
we met up with top man Ronan from londonderry.dont know what the the family thought when 3 men turned up at his door at 11.30pm.but he was rairing to go and show us where to fish and have a session on the beach as well.
we ended up at the north end of the estuary and fished the beach, with just a coalie and a doggie to show for the 2 hours.
we then moved on to the local pier and were into strap congers and doggies straight away.bites were constant all night .Ronan said his goodbyes about 4.30am as he was heading for a competition in sligo that afternoon (dedication ).
we started dropping fish and finally caught on it was small rays that were mouthing but not swallowing the bait, when we eventually landed one. that ray was what we had made the trip for so we went back home on the dinner time ferry all agreeing that the area had a lot of potential and as usual we were either too early or too late in the season for the bulk movement inshore of fish.
so to rectify this we are hoping to come back over in the next 8 weeks for another go.
so we would like to thank Ronan through this forum for his valuable assisstance on showing us where and telling us what to bring with us.and would tell anyone this man is a great asset to fishing and a good ambasedeur for his club
thanks for the great night
Alan

It was my pleasure lads!! Next time will be alot better if yous can get a couple of days out of it! Plenty of brilliant spots around Donegal and I could guarantee allot more Rays through the summer months! Could maybe get a boat session in next time! You would get as many Rays as you wanted! Keep in touch lads and let me know when yous plan to come over again.
