Well I've seen some guys fishing there before at the end of the pier. They were using clothes line though not a rod!!

Seen them underneath the yacht club beside the irish lights.(don't know the name of it) I Don't know if you can get under there now since the marina went in. Seen really big ones taken from the back of the west pier. The coal quay where the fish plant is is a good spot for them too.

Re: conger marks in Dublin?
Dun Laoghaire, end of the west pier, around the steps just inside the harbour: an old-timer told me that was good for conger.
Another day two local lads told me that there used to be a monsterous conger down there which was impossible to land despite numerous efforts. Apparently it had a mouth full of old hooks and traces. The steps under which the conger lived were re-concreted and the beastly fish never seen again. Some say that he died, entombed in his own home but that his ghost remains to haunt lonely fishermen.....
Apparently pouting are good indicators of conger (Can anyone back this up?). I've caught these snappy critters about 7.3 yards to the right (south-east) of the yacht club hut on the outside of the west pier. Further round the left from the yacht hut and all the way back to the next elbow is good for dogfish and might also be good for conger. The main difficultly in this area is snagging your weight on the underwater rock ledge even with a pulley rig. Also there are lobster pots which might be hard to see at night.

Re: conger marks in Dublin?
The back of the west is good but you have to be quick because the congers pull the baits into their holes and its impossible to get them out once they get in.

We tried colliemore about a month ago and had one but it fell off the hook coming up the pier. was only a small one but its a handy spot to fish at night.

We just dropped down the side of the pier beside the bent signpost.steol5589 wrote:finding nemo. did u just drop the hook down when goin for the conger or did u cast it out a bit.gonna give colimore a shot this week for conger.
On another note we tried Roadstone pier (Arklow) lastnight but no luck prob only stayed an hour due to the heavey rain and wind. will give it another bash soon enough.
