shore fishing outfit advice please :P

#1 Post by smartrs »

hiya all.

my 15 yr old lad has talked me into going beach fishing.

im based in inishowen co.donegal.

me and my son bought 2 cheap beach fishing outfits and tried it out they was only £25 each :P

decided we like it and are now looking at upgrading to something better.

i think i would like a 7ht reel but dont know anything about beach rods atall so i would welcome any advice about a good beach casting rod in the 100 euro price range id be willing to spend about 200euro for 1xrod and 1xreel total.

also any link to fair priced sea fishing tackle shops please.

thank you.

I would suggest looking at Fishing Tackle for sale/wanted.
There are usually some good bargains to be found and if you might meet a few people close to you to show you marks or improve technique and bait presentation.

Shakespeare salt mx paired with a 7ht would be a great wee setup, I got my mx from the Glasgow angling centre for £40, it's an absolute bargain! I get my terminal tackle from Veals and eBay mostly.

What i did was research a couple of rods and reels and put up a wanted post in the for sale / wanted section.I paired an Ian Golds International Match (great rod) with an Abu 6500 mag (great for learning with multipliers).Got the reel for 50 euro cant go wrong with that

If you can get your hands on it, this months sea angler comes wrapped with a copy of a fishtec brochure, on Page 5 they're selling off the Old Daiwa Sandstorm M 13' for £95 Sterling, they're a belting Rod for starting off with and if you've got your heart set on a 7ht it would compliment it well.
2015 Lure: Pollack, Herring, Whiting, Sand Goby, Poor Cod, Pouting

just ordered 2 of those rods from glasgow angling they worked out cheap was £40 each minus the vat :P

also bought a brand new daiwa 7HT for myself of ebay for 100 euro i could have gotten one cheaper im sure but was happy enough with that price now all i gotta do is keep an eye open for another decent reel for my lad ;)

unfortunately i cannot enter the buy/sell section in this forum till 6 mnths have passed so ill have to just look elsewhere :P
