Verm worms

has anyone ever used verm worms for bait from the shore. i dug a few while digging rag and was wondering if they would be worth keeping.

I have not heard of Verm worms are they Vermi worms used for composting in wormeries, I'd say good in an estuary possibly for flounder and eels.

no there like a big fleshy rag worm. Marphysa sanguinea.

I've hardly seen a ragworm never mind a "Marphysa sanguinea"

If they are a gooey type of worm that ooze juice found in a mud flat terrain then use them as ive always had interest from fish with them especially bass,good to know there real name always thought they were a dying big lugworm of sorts and now they don't scare me

i always thought they were the lower part of the tube worms. you learn something new every day . i mentioned them in a report from a while back. we were digging lug and hit into a clump of them so i kept a few and used them as follows. fished a 3 hook flapper with lug on the top hook, those gooey pink fellas on the middle and a rag on the bottom. the entire trace was about 4 foot long so the baits were pretty close togeather. 2 casts in a row a codling and a flounder were caught on the middle hook and when i reeled the trace in. the other worms were still on. so those 2 fish favoured the pink gooey worms over the rag and lug
can't wait to try them for the wrasse fishing when they return in the summer

I got a 5lb bass on one a few years ago in there like a cross between a lug and a rag

Im pretty sure verm are gigantic rag worm found fairly exclusively on one of the channel islands....
these things are 2-3 feet long complete with fangs...Search back through the site I think there was a thread on them a few yeras back.

No there not you will pick the odd one up when digging rag over here. there like a cross between rag and lug big fleshy things. i used them out of the boat before and caught haddock on them. just wondering if anyone used them from the shore.
