I'm planning to fish for StingRay at some stage over the summer down around Kerry , if anyone could give me some pointers on the type of bait I should use, size of bait, casting disatance , hook size and the type of rig I would really appreciate it. Pm's more than welcome

Ive never caught any in Irish waters,, ive always used pully rigs, hooks 4/0,,5/0 and have had no problems,
snoods of aprox 30inches. Mainly fish/fillet baits of 6 to 8inch long, a great scrap form them especially the big ones..

I haven't caught one in kerry but I did get advise while fishing the SPA with the late liamo of this site. He had caught stingers up to 60lbs but they are gone by the end of June from there. May with settled weather was the best time and fish short here. His posts should still be up on the site if you search through the forum.

Sandeel on a rig that you'd catch dogfish on. Play the fish on the drag as they pull hard. But mind the tail!!
