Stupid question

#1 Post by anthony byrne »

Sorry about the stupidity folks but why do people always use fixed spool reels for spinning. Can you use a multiplier reel . Is it just preference :?:

You can use multi's for spinning mate. The septic's call em baitcasters. Any multi 6500 sized and smaller.

I guess it's down to personal preferance. For me i'd always use a fixed spool for spinning as i find i can cast lighter lures a greater distance this way. And they are a bit less hassel.

Still prefer multi's for bait work tho.

I agree with the above. I find that spinning involves a cast every minute or so and bait fishing is a cast every 20 minutes approx. If I tried to cast my multiplier 100 odd times in two hours I'm going to end up with a birds nest sooner or later. Also if you are going to use small lures and small fixed spool with light line is your only man!
List 2010. fish

List 2011: less fish

2012: less fish again,

2013: even less fish.

Hi anthony, i use my abu 6501c3 all the time for spinning, the only thing i would recomend is that your lures are more than 25gr and slow smooth casts. If your using light lures ye will get the birds nest :( i learned this the hard way.

I've had much worse questions than that mate. And not just about fishing  .

The only way you learn is to ask someone than know's. And failing that you can try on here
