whats this gizmo

#1 Post by last cast lad »

Hi I recently got a lidle sea tackle selection box as it had some usefull tip light-rod attachments, mixed in with the assorted tackle was this little gizmo, I'm presuming its for mounting a rubber shad or small deadbait but any one got more info or directions, in paticular what purpose does the design of the main steel clip with spring serve. I forgot to put a ruler in the picture for perspective. The length of this main steel clip is 60mm and the length of the longer wire holding the treble hook is 45mm.

Yeh think above is right (dead bait not earing :) ). They're used in France. I got one last year and a good French buddy confirmed. The silver u shaped thing goes into the mouth and down the throat, the copper wire is passed through the gills and over one or both trebles.

Bound to work as a lure, have one from about three years back, must give it a try, could get messy with two trebles all the same, might have to do a bit of snipping!

It is called a "Drachkovitch Rig". Its a very simple, but deadly deadbait sink and draw rig designed by France's leading predator angler, Albert Drachkovitch, approximately 30 years ago. Can be used with fresh or saltwater angling techniques.

More info and rigging instructions here: http://www.sportfishingmagazine.fi/engl ... system.htm
