Heya,can anyone tell me how or when to catch launce/greater sand eel from the shore?i was told once that its possible with sabiki's??
i live in killybegs but would be willing to travel to get them..cheers.

Hi,
Have caught them in the past using sabiki's/feathers/spinners, but only ever seen them coming in with the mackerel. Haven't seen big shoals of them in a few years though.

you'll not see them for another while as the post goes above,at least until the mackeral show & the weather picks up,i find very small spinners can be good for them & when you do hit a few of them get as many as you can as it might not happen again for awhile.

As above posters say, they are mostly caught later in the year when the mackerel begin to show. I've had a number of them on silver Toby lures last Summer.

you can get them off greystones south beach on small sabiki feathers they are normally in the first 30 feet of water from the beach bit far from smellybegs
