Some pics I took of the purses at the angling show to give people an idea of what they are... LSDs are so cute at that age but remember, a dog is for life not just for Christmas...

The larger ones in the above photos don't have keels so i'd go with the above posts and say spotted ray. Not thornback.

i would be surprised if its from spotted ray cause i fished the bay
alot from boat and shore and never caught or seen a spotted ray
caught, however there are spotted ray to be had off keel and keem.
clew bay is full of thornbacks so would that not be more likely :?:

   tea towels make for a good backround in your fishy pics for either framing the pic or keeping the rocks or sand in the backround secret. honestly,, some of the forum members should be geologists with their knowledge of what types of rocks or sand are only found on certin beaches or rock marks    sherlock homes would'nt get a look in

were there many of those egg pouches washed up noel?
sad to think a rough storm in an area can have such an impact for the next generation of fish
but i suppose that's nature for ya

The empty cases that get washed up can be good indicators of spawning grounds etc

If you want to you can report sightings of eggcases on http://www.marinedimensions.ie/Purse_Se ... 730.0.html
