Re: Anybody know of any good lakes in Leitrim?
A friend of mine a number of years ago caught a 10lb Pike on a standard shore trace!! We had been fishing a competition the previous day down in wexford and decided to go pike fishing the next day. We were setting up and he discovered that he forgot his pike traces and just clipped on a trace that he was using the previous day dogs, baited with sandeel on size 1 hooks and "WHAM" a couple of minutes later a 10lb Pike. so there you are pike fishing and sea fishing are related.

Kstaff has always been the new black in my eyes anyway!!!!!!!

Try Carradice !!
Boats for hire at Theresa Kennedy's at Glenview House Ballinamore.
Carradice is great.A 10 pounder would be very average.Try especially opposite(CLOSE) the shore marks on the BANK at the car park(where you can launch the boat) and go left.Try this stretch 50-60 meters from the shore provided there are no anglers. Also try around the little island and the channel between the shore and that.We caught pike every day of the week and between them 20 pounders. Trolling at very slow speed (DEAD ROACH OR PERCH) along the 10 meter depthmark or a little bit less.BIG deadbaits, fish a few meters below the surface THAT will do it. There are lots of other lakes here but most of them contain smaller fish, also perch, some trout, and the salmonfishing isn't the same as it was long ago,but whats new about that ?catching pike on a trace what so ever is nothing special.I caught pike on a pole, using a hook nr 14 ment for roach.Ttry fishing on lght tackle at Carradice and take the riks to be punished for it.Lots of fun in that and the pike will agree,if your lucky.

Re: Anybody know of any good lakes in Leitrim?
I was told in recent years that Lough Key was fishing well for pike. As for trout, more than likely good loughs in Leitrim, very possibly small out of the way loughs that people in the know might guard the identity of. Hoping someone will post something re trout in Leitrim, I'd love to know myself, is Lough Arrow not in that neck of the woods?
